Free Professional Development for Teachers at UBC

The Pacific Institute for the Mathematical Sciences and Math Potentials will host a free professional development session for teachers by James Tanton. James is a "Mathematician at Large" and Ambassador for the Mathematical Association of America in Washington D.C.

 

Description

In this workshop teachers will learn a new and effective method for teaching the concept of place value and all the arithmetic operations with numbers. They will experience mathematics as meaningful, coherent and beautiful and will leave inspired to bring the joy of learning mathematics to their own classes.
