The aim of the PIMS Industrial Problem Solving Workshop is to create a mutually beneficial link between researchers in industry and academic mathematicians/statisticians. Five technical research problems have been proposed by researchers from organizations with industrial or commercial concerns and will be presented in detail at the start of the workshop. Leading specialists from the academic community will study these problems in teams during the week-long event and present the results of their study back to the industrial participants at the end of the week.
PIMS invites participants from the academic community to join the event, including professors, postdoctoral researchers, and their students in mathematics and statistics (or with related expertise). There is funding available to provide accommodation for non-local participants, modest per diem expenses, and some travel subsidies.
